Eastern European Ladies are those women who never miss the occasion to make you feel important and needed, especially if this is International Men's Day. Every year on November 19, people from different countries celebrate International Men's Day. For the first time, it was celebrated in 1999 by the inhabitants of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago - an island nation in the southern part of the Caribbean Sea, consisting of two large islands. Subsequently, this holiday was supported in other countries of the Caribbean, Australia, North America, Asia, Europe and the United Nations.
The idea of holding such a holiday sounded back in the 1960s, when there were proposals to celebrate International Men's Day on February 23 - similar to the International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8. However, over the last 30 years, there has not been any progress beyond the proposals. Only in the early 1990s, on the initiative of Professor Thomas Oaster, who ran the Center for Male Studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas, small events took place in the US in February.
Dr. Tiluxingh from the University of the West Indies proposed to establish a holiday, which would emphasize the positive role of men in the family and society. The date of this holiday, Dr. Tiluxingh chose November 19 - the birthday of his own father, who, he said, was an excellent example to follow. Today this holiday is celebrated in more than 50 countries: Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Ghana, Israel, India, Ireland, Italy, Canada, China, Norway, Pakistan, Russia, USA, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, Jamaica, and others.
The purpose of International Men's Day is to draw attention to the gender discrimination of men in determining the importance of their role in the family and the upbringing of children. Also, the organizers of the holiday emphasize the preservation of the health of boys and men and their social, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. This day various seminars, events in schools, programs on radio and television, peaceful demonstrations and processions, roundtables, as well as displays of art objects on the role of men in society take place around the world.
Even though every year one of the main themes of the celebration is offered to all countries (for example, "Men's Health", "Cure and Forgiveness", "The Positive Role of Men" and others), each state and each city has the right to choose a more relevant for itself theme.
By the way, do not mix this holiday with World Men's Day, which appeared on the initiative of the first and last president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, and is celebrated on the first Saturday of November.
